  • Advised the vendors of Med-Chem Ingredients on the sale of the Australasian-domiciled business to Nuplex Industries Limited.
  • Advised Hubbard Foods Ltd on the sale of a 35% shareholding to Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust. This transaction introduced a community-based investor to Hubbards, which is a commercially successful entity and has a strong social ethic.
  • Advised DB Breweries on the sale of Liquorland Limited to Foodstuffs New Zealand Limited. Liquorland comprises a national chain of 75 stores and the transaction involved the negotiation of a 10 year on-going support agreement with DB.
  • Advised DB Breweries on the negotiation and establishment of Barworks Limited, being a new joint venture to own and operate a range of high quality restaurants and bars.
  • Undertook for Taranaki Investment Management Fund Limited an independent review of the business case, financial assessment and business proposition of the Fund acquiring a large agricultural company comprising of 21 farms in Tasmania and Australia. The Fund acquired the company for over A$100 million.
  • Undertook a comprehensive waste industry evaluation and provided business advice to Ironbridge Capital Pty Ltd, a major Australian private equity fund that acquired Envirowaste Limited for in excess of $300 million.
  • Managed the company separation and proposed Initial Public Offering  for Noel Leeming Ltd, a business with 1400 staff and 90 stores throughout New Zealand. These projects were run concurrently with a trade sale process. The company was sold to an Australian private equity fund for $138.5 million.
  • Advised TelstraClear on the sale of a transponder on the Optus D1 satellite to Television New Zealand, the state owned broadcaster. The transponder had a transmission footprint covering New Zealand.
  • Advised the company's owners on the sale of Esvin Wine Resources, a leading supplier to the New Zealand wine industry, to an Italian trade buyer.
  • Restructured Delta Produce, New Zealand's largest kumara processing company, into a cooperative and made a successful public offer to growers.
  • Advised Hamilton International Airport in its successful negotiation with Air New Zealand, which resulted in increases in landing fees, terminal charges and the introduction of a domestic terminal departure levy.
  • Advised the United Networks Shareholders Society on the sale of its $165 million interest in United Networks Limited. The Society held the shares in trust for the North Shore City Council, Waitakere City Council and Rodney District Council. 
  • Acted for a US based investor in respect of acquiring the $50 million Westhaven Marina from Ports of Auckland. The role included undertaking a commercial assessment and due diligence.
  • Managed the merger of QBE Insurance and the New Zealand operations of HIH Insurance. The group became New Zealand's second largest insurer, with assets in excess of $300 million.
