Stephen Cozens

Stephen has over 25 years of Investment Banking experience, specifically focused on Industry Advisory, Valuation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Raising and Private Equity.

Stephen's key strength lies in identifying value creation strategies to exploit material synergies to deliver high return transactions (both buyer and seller side) for strategic corporates and / or investors.

After qualifying and working initially as an engineer and following an MBA in Finance, Stephen spent 10 years within Credit Suisse First Boston and Deutsche Bank. Stephen was a Director of Equity Research (rated number one in Forestry, Agriculture and Chemicals) before moving to Investment Banking and undertaking landmark transactions such as Norske SkogIndustrier's NZ$5.2 billion acquisition of Fletcher Paper (and subsequent divestment of Tasman Pulp) and Fonterra's acquisition of Bonlac Foods.

Stephen then established a boutique Investment Bank covering New Zealand and Asia and has covered a range of Industries and transactions across the Food and Beverage, Commodities and Financial Services sectors. Stephen also undertook a period of government advisory in Singapore assisting New Zealand companies to internationalise within the South East Asia region. In this capacity, Stephen worked with the region's largest strategic corporates, funds and investors.

Stephen is also actively involved in private equity co-investment with a range of global funds and remains interested in Asia-Pacific growth-orientated investments. This would typically be undertaken alongside strategic corporates and global financial investors.

In his spare time, Stephen can be found Snapper fishing with family and friends around Waiheke Island or riding Harley Davidsons across the Americas, Asia and Europe.
